Chicago’s Unicycle Loves You is one of our favorite new bands, so it only makes sense that we’d invite them to play a show at Schubas as part of our monthly Amplify new music series. The band brought a HUGE crowd to Schubas for the show and previewed tracks from their self-titled debut album, which was produced by Brian Deck (Tortiose, The Sea & Cake) and recently released via Chicago-based indie label Highwheel Records. Of course, as part of their Amplify experience, we also invited the attractive young members of Unicycle Loves You to do a live recording session at Shirk Studios in downtown Chicago and they kindly accepted. What resulted was three fantastic, raw and inspired versions of album tracks “Great Bargains For Seniors,” “Dollars + Cents” and “Kiki Bridges.” Download this month’s podcast to check them out!

On a warm Friday night in March, the fine gentlemen of Tigercity stopped by Chicago on their way home to Brooklyn from SXSW. They played a KILLER set at Schubas for the Amplify New Music Series, partied ’till the wee hours of the morning, and still had the cojones to get up bright and early to record our second Amplify Live Session @ Shirk Studios. The boys used the opportunity to record four BRAND NEW songs and we’re incredibly to give you an exclusive listen to what’s “next” for Tigercity.

The band is currently in the midst of a six-week tour with VHS Or Beta, but this summer they will be entering the studio to record their first proper full length album. You can bet a couple (if not all) of these tracks will be included.
